Making Your Garden Fence Cat-Safe with BOY Cat Net

A garden gives cats valuable variety and fresh air but only if they cannot leave it unnoticed. With a BOY cat net along your garden fence, you create a secure outdoor space without compromising the appearance of your garden. The fine-mesh olive-green net is barely visible from a few metres away and reliably withstands even the most curious climbers.

Why Isn't a Normal Fence Enough?

Cats can jump up to 200 cm from a standing position, so a simple fence usually offers insufficient protection. The key factors are the right height and an anti-climb protection along the top edge to prevent the cat from swinging over the net. With the right mounting accessories, this can be done safely and securely.

The Right Solution for Your Garden Fence

For many gardens, telescopic pull-out poles are the ideal choice. They can be attached directly to the fence or inserted into the ground using holders, and combined with a cat net and anti-climb protection. The result is a flexible and stable solution that adapts to different fence heights.

Step by Step to a Cat-Safe Garden Fence

  1. Plan the route: First check the entire fence line and pay attention to corners, gates and potential escape gaps.
  2. Set the poles: Place the telescopic poles at regular intervals so the net does not sag too much later.
  3. Install anti-climb protection: The inward-facing attachment makes it much harder for your cat to get over the top edge.
  4. Attach the net: Tension the cat net evenly and secure it with suitable net ties.
  5. Secure the bottom edge: There must be no gap at the bottom either, so your cat cannot lift the net.
  6. Check everything: Finally, carefully inspect all transitions, corners and connections.

What to Pay Particular Attention To

In a garden, escape routes often appear not at the top but along the bottom or at side transitions. Make sure the net closes flush with the ground and fits tightly against the fence posts. For longer fence runs, it is also recommended to keep the tension as even as possible so the net stays stable even in wind.

Combining with a Terrace or Enclosure

If your garden adjoins a terrace, you can secure both areas together in one go. On our page Making Your Terrace Cat-Safe you will find further practical tips. This creates a safe outdoor area in which your cat can move around freely.

Climbing protection for enclosure poles, olive green
Climbing protection for enclosure poles, olive green
It happens again and again that the four-legged friend climbs up the net, swings over the net and goes on a hike. With the angle attachment, with an angle of approx. 115 °, climbing over the net becomes much more difficult. The attachment can easily be pushed onto the enclosure rod and adjusted with a spring clip. Please note that you need approx. 50cm more net height when using the angle attachment. The attachment has a hole at the top to attach the cat net so that it cannot slide down. This enclosure rod attachment is only suitable for our enclosure rods. This climbing protection is only available in the colour: olive green

Lawn holder for enclosure poles, 30cm + 50cm
Lawn holder for enclosure poles, 30cm + 50cm
You need these lawn brackets for our olive green perches with a diameter of 25 mm. They are driven about 30 cm or 50 cm deep into the lawn. For soft ground, please choose the extra long lawn holder so that the telescopic poles have a good hold later. The brackets are ready for use. The telescopic rods can now easily be inserted into the brackets. A cat enclosure can be set up and dismantled quickly. IMPORTANT: Please remember that when using the extra long lawn holder, the perch bar only protrudes approx. 180 cm from the holder. This is not enough to prevent a cat from jumping over the cat net. A cat can jump up to 200 cm from a standing position. So please do not forget to order the over-climbing protection for the enclosure poles. You get a total height of approx. 220 cm. Colour: silver-coloured, galvanised
