How to order the correct net length

If the net is attached later, it will hang more or less between the telescopic poles. However, this sagging requires additional net length that is often not taken into account when measuring the balcony. In most cases, an extra 5–10 cm is needed between the telescopic poles due to sagging.

To ensure that you have enough net length later, we recommend ordering approx. 5–10% more net length than the measured balcony length. For smaller balconies up to 10 m in length, about 5 cm extra per measured balcony metre should be added. For balconies, enclosures, and similar installations over 10 m in length, we recommend ordering up to 10 cm extra per metre of balcony length.

Which mesh size is the right one?

The size of the cat, and especially the size of its head, determines the required mesh size. The mesh size must be chosen so that the cat's head cannot fit through the mesh under any circumstances, not even by force.

How to find out the right mesh size? There is a simple little "Boy trick":

Take a thread and cut it to 20 cm. This is the size of a mesh with a 50 mm mesh size (4 sides of 5 cm each = 20 cm circumference). Hold both ends together with your forefinger and thumb to form a loop. Now try to pull this loop over your cat's head. If it succeeds, then 50 mm mesh size is too large. Then cut the thread to 16 cm and try again. If the loop slips over the head again, a 40 mm mesh size is too large. For a 30 mm mesh size, you need a thread length of 12 cm, and for a 20 mm mesh size, 8 cm.

Please note:

We do not have ready-made nets. All nets are cut to length and height according to your specifications. We ask for your understanding that we can neither exchange nor take back these nets. All nets are therefore excluded from the right of withdrawal: the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for the supply of goods that are not prefabricated and for whose manufacture an individual selection or determination by the consumer is decisive, or which are clearly tailored to the personal needs of the consumer.

Braided line - 20m roll - 3mm Ø - olive green+ white + black
Braided line - 20m roll - 3mm Ø - olive green+ white + black
This braided line, also called tension line, is approx. 3mm thick, has a high tear resistance and is still elastic. This line has proven itself very well over the past decades. It is required to prevent the net from collapsing between the telescopic rods. If the cat net is attached with hooks, the braided line is threaded in a spiral through the outer row of stitches of the Boy cat net and then hooked together with the net. This prevents a stitch on the hook from tearing. On request, we can professionally sew a braided line to the cat net. (see edging)

Heavy lead rope - 400g per running meter
Heavy lead rope - 400g per running meter
Everyone is familiar with the lead lines that are used to pull down curtains. Our extra‑heavy 400g lead line does exactly the same thing: it keeps the cat net on the ground. Our lead lines are used on the balcony and in the garden (cat enclosure). Please ensure that the cat cannot push the net to the side, the net should always hang about 30–40 cm on the floor. The lead lines can be cut to the required length on site using a side cutter, for example. The ends should then be sealed using a lighter. The attachment of the lead line to the net is relatively easy with our 100 mm long net ties. Lead rope with a weight of 400g per meter, will secure the cat-net onto the floor. It should be used for cat-nets in a enclosure and for net-curtains on the balcony.

Original Net Needle
Original Net Needle
This net needle is used by professionals to join net lengths together or to mend holes in nets. It makes it easier to fix the Boy cat net to the balcony handrail, as the net needle with the net thread can be easily threaded through the mesh. You can use this net needle for nets with mesh sizes of 20–50 mm. Not a must, but it makes your work considerably easier.
